The love of a good walk with a good dog is what got me started in this business!
And even an “only-pretty-good-on-a-leash” dog is still a great companion for a walk. I don’t judge people whose dogs are under-trained unless it poses a danger to them or their loved ones; I have had an under-trained (but leashed) dog, myself. Mardi and I have begun working together on better leash manners and consistent off-leash recall now that I’ve decided to commit my professional life to working with animals. So don’t judge us, either! We’re working on it. Rest assured, perfect leash manners or not, I will keep your dog(s) safe and pick up after them when they poop anywhere (unless its a weedy ditch)
I don’t claim to offer dog training as part of our services, but we do utilize the knowledge we are constantly acquiring (I have a continuing education certificate in Dog Psychology as well as in Pet First Aid) when we walk your dog(s). We are sensitive to not undoing any training you and your pup have been working on! We also need to know how to keep them safe around other dogs and people That’s why it’s important that we get to know you and your dog and have good communication each time we provide services for your beloved companion.
Having said that, we will only work with animals when we can do so safely. We will require your pets to be vaccinated and in good health, and to comport themselves consistently in a manner that does no harm to themselves, their handler or other people.
cat sitting (etc)
We can care for any housebound critter while you’re away
And we’ll love on ‘em too! Our interactions are designed not only to provide companionship and reassurance for you, but also to confirm their health while you’re away.
Loona has cared for reptiles, birds and amphibians in addition to cats & dogs.
What comes with a visit?
Every visit includes a litterbox scooping, feeding, fresh water, and playful and/or affectionate interactions as the cat elects. We can administer prescription medications as instructed for an additional fee. There are surcharges for weekend, holiday and last-minute requests. Cancellations require adequate notice.
The Scout for Pet Parents digital platform will provide you with a report of each visit, including photos, a timer confirming the visit duration and period, and notes from the visit.

(locals’) dog sitting
Local dog sitting packages are designed for in-your-home visits and require an in-person onboarding appointment in advance of any appointment confirmations. Rates go down as the frequency of visits per scheduled sit increases. Each visit includes a 20 minute walk or yard exercise session, feeding, clean-up and play. We stay longer when we can, with permission of the homeowners, when it’s OK to use the wi-fi to catch up on emails, or to stream a show on Netflix, etc. Sleeping over can be arranged in certain circumstances. Please note: dogs are social animals and need at least 2 visits per day if you’re going to be gone longer than overnight. If finances are strained, talk to us, we’ll figurue something out.
We require the use of a lock box or coded entry door for access: we can sell you one for $15 if you don’t have one.
There is a 10 day booking limit unless we have worked together previously.
Solo visit (all include a walk) $45

special event pet handler
There are many occasions that can, with planning and support, be enriched when a loved one’s pet is included (for weddings, see HERE). For so many of us, our pets are part of our immediate family, and there is a growing desire to include them in the events that are important to their human companions. However, not every occasion has an obvious animal handler at the ready.
Auntie Loo can assist!
We’ll learn about and dress for the occasion, take care of transporting the animal to & from, and attend to its needs before and after the special occasion, as needed. Supporting people on a special day is an honor we take very seriously.
*Click HERE for our NEW CLIENT INTEREST FORM*
Cost is based on the handler’s time and distance to & from the event; see Guest Dog Services and add (federal rate) mileage reimbursement and any meals not included. to get the rough estimate we’ll pre-bill you for your event.
Actual cost is due within 10 days of services.

Lori, Rio’s dog mom says:
“Loona was amazing from the very start! I was headed out for a week and worried about my very skittish pup, but Loona put my mind at ease when she came to visit and meet him. She sat right down on his level and let him come to her, was very casual as we walked our trails, and let him get used to her on his terms. She came every day the week I was gone and took him for a nice walk, sometimes even with a buddy which he loved! The photos she sent and the little report card that told me how the walk went were so helpful in setting my mind at ease. I highly recommend Loona and !”won't hesitate to call her again!”
Kate, Rory the puppy’s human, says:
“Loona has been a great companion for our pup! She is super friendly, reliable, a real animal lover, confident in her abilities to care for your 4-legged friends.
I highly recommend!
