My name is Loona Brogan... and there’s me with my dog Mardi! And above, with some of the kids I miss taking care of from Willow Moon Goat Farm. I’ve enjoyed taking care of animals my whole life and have worked professionally with therapeutic horseback riding as well as on a mid-sized goat dairy farm.

I have lived in Vermont since 1995 and served as Plainfield’s public librarian for 10 years. I have prior professional dog walking experience. I’ve also farm-sat, and I’ve fed farm & family animals while their families were away on several occasions. I’ve facilitated therapeutic horseback riding for neuro-divergent kids and operated a 60-head goat dairy raw milking parlor at an award-winning cheese-producing farm. I’ve had or helped take care of horses, cows, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens, goats, sheep, cats, domestic birds, rabbits, amphibians and reptiles.

I know how to stay safe and keep your animals safe and calm, and recognize signs of distress or illness from my own experiences as a farm worker and as many a pets’ caretaker. I don’t encourage undesirable behaviors, and I’m learning to use body language more than verbal queues to communicate with animals. I’m currently studying dog-training and dog psychology to best serve you and your pooches. References are available!

I use a platform called SCOUT FOR PET PARENTS that lets you track my GPS signal in real time during your appointment window! Through the app, I’ll send you pictures as well as a report on each visit. You can pay through the app as well as check my availability, request appointments and provide feedback! It’s free from the app store for your device.

Can you trust me? YES! I can provide personal and professional references upon request.

My fingerprints are on-file with the Washington County Sherrif’s Office,

since I used to worked in an after-school program and that is a requirement.

I can also provide a current security guard license that proves I’ve passed a recent background check with the State of Vermont (but I don’t provide security guard services independently).

Key & Cancellation Policies

I do not keep keys.

If you do not have a “SMART” door, please invest in a lockbox (about $30 at the hardware store) so your key remains on your property at all times.

We will remind you to make sure it’s out the morning of your appointment.

If you would rather rent a lock box from me, I charge $5 a month to provide one.

The lock box does not have to hang from your doorknob as long as I know where it is located on your property. I am not comfortable using a hide-a-key or having your garage door code. In the event your home security were ever compromised, I would not want it related to my services. I will leave the lock box where it was or leave your key inside if it’s the last visit and I’m retrieving a rented lock box.

If the entry arrangement fails (lock box not out, combo wrong to lock box or SMART door), the client is still expected to pay for the service that was scheduled.

Cancellations less than 24 hours ahead will be forfeit their 50% deposit. Less than 12 hours ahead, cancelling clients will still be expected to pay 100% of services they reserved.

Where do I take (*always leashed*) dogs to walk?

If you live on a rural road, most of the year we’ll stick to close-to-home. I’ll follow your suggestions for how your want your dog instructed when a vehicle is passing. If a dog poops where someone might step in it or see it (or it’s on a path or in someone’s yard), I’ll always pick it up! When conditions are hazardous, we’ll seek sidewalked areas or a road with good visibility and little traffic.

Solo dog park visits are possible (ie, when we’re the only ones there).

I can check your dog(s) for ticks before I bring them inside, just request it when you schedule; foot baths & toweling off during wet/muddy weather is naturally also included. I can even provide “extra” yard clean-up and litterbox services, if ‘life’s duties’ have been piling up around your place... I’m glad to help!

(**If you do not want me to use a leash, we’ll stay on your property. The dog(s) must be 100% voice-trained, microchipped, and wearing a GPS collar if unleashed.**)

~50% due at booking, 100% due before services are performed.

I accept cash or digital payment via the Scout for Pet Parents app~

farm animal caretaking

You can rely on me to make sure your animals have food and water

and that their living areas are safe and clean while you are away,

but schedule well in advance of your trip!*

I grew up with chickens, a cow and some pigs in the back.

As an adult, I’ve kept my own goats, and worked on a farm for over a year.

I always lock the gate and the door. I turn off the lights. Plus, with the Scout for Pet Parents app, you can see my GPS location in real time during your visit window, as well as optional (free) photos and a visit report after appointment. I never take care of more than one farm at a time to prevent cross-contamination.

These visits are usually close to dawn and dusk. And yes, I can water the garden too.

Auntie Loo’s requires all clients to agree to our terms prior to confirming requested service appointments.

a 5/6/2024 Dog walking

client testimonial

Loona was amazing from the very start! I was headed out for a week and worried about my very skittish pup, but Loona put my mind at ease when she came to visit and meet him. She sat right down on his level and let him come to her, was very casual as we walked our trails, and let him get used to her on his terms. She came every day the week I was gone and took him for a nice walk, sometimes even with a buddy which he loved! The photos she sent and the little report card that told me how the walk went were so helpful in setting my mind at ease. I highly recommend Loona and won't hesitate to call her again!
